Some of you will remember the original cover art from Wattpad:

I spent maybe 10 minutes on this, after looking at the most common covers on Wattpad. I made it on Canva. I thought it was all well and good.
As it turns out, it's not.
As I have come to find out, young and new adult fantasy readers are incredibly picky and discerning. It took me just under a year and tons of advertising by myself to all of you to get to 1000 views. Popular and featured stories, for context, have upwards of 20,000 views.
So, I decided to work on the cover art.
This was mostly to give myself a break from editing, which I hate more than anything I have ever done in my entire life. Commuting two whole days to a remote site in northern Canada was more enjoyable than editing, for me.
In any case, I followed the advice of Derek Murphy who seems to know what he's doing.
Here's the progress photo for The Winter Court's new cover art:

Note: I am fully aware that the images don't blend super well. This is meant to be viewed much smaller, and so that won't be as noticeable in the thumbnail view. I'm planning on using this as my new cover on Wattpad, as well as other e-book platforms when I'm there. The print version (because I would dearly love to have copies in bookstores) will likely have something else. Possibly simpler.
Anyway, let me know what you think. Alternatively, if you want to help me out with graphic design on the cheap, I'm totally down. Anything would be better than the one that I made in Microsoft Word.
