Is 2020 Over Yet?

I think that we can all agree that this has been an absolute shitshow of a year.
I'm back working, which is something that I know many people can't say. This also means that I have found myself with even less motivation to write.
Part of the problem is that The Winter Court has been feeling like work to me - an absolute slog to make it through, with little to no reward at the end (can you tell that I've started job hunting again?). I'm not excited to make my book work, even though I know that it needs it. The characters and the story deserve to be fully realized, and they just aren't in the version that some of you have seen. But I don't have the passion for it right now.
Another part of the problem, which feels incredibly self-serving to say, I get so little engagement on this blog or on my Facebook page (before I deleted my Facebook account because of all the propaganda related to the upcoming American election), that I really don't feel like anyone cares about my writing. Writers write for their work to be read. If no one is reading my work, or interested in my work, why should I bother? And that's the way that I've been feeling for a few years.

I'm not giving up on writing, though, and I will eventually come back to The Winter Court.
Right now, I have plans to participate in National Novel Writing Month (which is how I finished the first draft of TWC, as some of you may know). I'm excited about my new idea - an alternate version of Turn of the Century alternate-London with magic, a competition and more star-crossed lovers. I'm in the process of plotting this book out, so if you have any name or place suggestions, please leave a comment!
I really love hearing from you all, and I hope that you will check back every now and again. You can reach out however you feel comfortable - I will definitely need the encouragement throughout the month of November.
Yours in exhaustion,
Tori
